 Deceased Name: William Erety Shoemaker
 William Erety Shoemaker, 76, an authority on handling
 asbestos, died Sunday at his home in Bryn Mawr.
  Known for his research into the occupational hazards
 of asbestos, Mr. Shoemaker was former regional program
 director of the Philadelphia office of the National
 Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. He
 retired last year after 16 years with the federal
 agency.
  A graduate of the Haverford School and Cornell
 University, he was a member of the Philadelphia
 Chapter of the American Institute of Plant Engineers,
 the Philadelphia Engineers Club, the Bryn Mawr Civic
 Association, the Men's Garden Club of the Delaware
 Valley and the Church of the Redeemer in Bryn Mawr.
  Survivors: his wife, Jean, and three daughters, Pamela
 S. Solloway, Innis Howe and Rosemary Root Shoemaker.
  Services: 2 p.m. tomorrow, Church of the Redeemer.
 Burial Thursday in Bridgeton, N.J.
