Notes
a. Note:   PARENTAGE: Naming patterns being as strong as they were among the Irish, I suspect that Elizabeth Godkin's father was named William Godkin and her mother could have been Catherine. George Ereghty's father was very likely John Ereghty, and his mother either Elizabeth or Ann. The names of Erety and Godkin are found in County Wexford and County Wicklow in Ireland and later in Dublin.
RESIDENCE: The marriage of George Ereghty and Elizabeth Godkin has not been located in Philadelphia records. I suspect they were married in Canada, probably on Prince Edward Island because there are family letters referring to persons close to the Erety family in Philadelphia going back and forth between Philadelphia and Charlottetown, Queens, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Elizabeth may have been born in Ireland, probably in Wexford or Wicklow, and immigrated to Canada. She may have known George Ereghty in Ireland. Wally McMahon of Australia has done extensive research on all known Godkin families. He has located Godkin families in Canada before 1800, but records that could tie Elizabeth Godkin to the Godkin families in Prince Edward Island or Novia Scotia have not been located.
