Notes
a. Note:   BIOGRAPHY: "Horace Brewster Shoemaker's son William had a farm on the other side of Bridgeton from the Deerfield farm. He sent soil samples for testing and when his peach orchard was in bloom people would come to see it. Beautiful fields of green alfalfa. He married Jane (Jennie) Howe who was the last of two lines in her family so she had a Howe sewing maching inheritance. They came to visit us in Fort Worth in the early days then again when they came to buy land in the Rio Grande valley of Texas to grow citrus. Their son Howe took over that property. Willam and Jennie's daughter Esther Weber lived on the farm and cared for her invalid mother for years, much of the time having round-the-clock nurses. Esther's husband had a long-established candy business in Bridgeton and one of their sons is carrying that on. The Webers built a large home in front of the original farm home. William and Jennie's oldest daughter Jane Rolleston died fairly early of cancer and her husband took their two girls on a tour for the country, stopping to see us in Manhattan Beach, California. Son Horace was in business in Cincinatti, son William in Philadelphia, daughter Mary in New York City." Katherine Suggs Shive, September, 1982
