Mr. Hurd was born Sept. 2nd. 1862 in Ohio State. When a young man he came to Nicholas County and purchased a farm on Glade Creek where he lived for several years. While a young man he was united in marriage to Miss Minerva Dorsey of McKee's Creek who survives him. To this union were born six children, four boys and two girls, viz: Geo. E. Hurd, Richwood, W.
