a. Note:   He lived near the communities of Calico Rock, Pineville and North Fork Arkansas. It is believed he married in Izard County AR approx 1852. James enlisted in the confederate army at Yellville AR on July 29, 1861 under commander Powell. Company I Regiment 14 Infantry. He entered as a corporal. He fought in battles at Pea Ridge, Bentonville, Leetown, and Elkhorn Tavern Mar 6 thru 8, 1862.
