 Liberty Vaughan, b. 04 Jul 1804 Manchester, Bennington, Vermont, d. 01 Feb 1875 Washington Co., OR, m. Nancy Briceland (b. 04 Oct 1809 Washington Co., PA, d. 23 Dec 1890) in 1826 in Ohio. Listed in 1840 Knox Co., Illinois census with 3 boys and 3 girls. Came to Oregon in 1852. They are buried in Gibbs Cemetery, Chehalem Mt., Yamhill Col, Oregon. See the Oregonian 22 Feb 1875, p. 2, col. 2. Spent the 1st winter in Long Prairie in the Willamette Valley. She was living with A.S. Vaughan in 1880, with parents shown as coming from Virginia and Pennsylvania. Oregon Donation Land Claim 2888 was filed for 318.71 acres. It shows they arrived in Oregon October 1852 and settled their claim 29 Mar 1855. Members of the Christian Church, kind-hearted, industrious and upright members of the community.
