  Another Pioneer Gone.
  Died, near Middleton, Washington county, Oregon, December 23rd, 1890, Mrs. Nancy
 Vaughan, aged 81 years, 2 months and 19 days.
  Mrs. Nance Vaughan was born in Washington county, Pennsylvania, October 4, 1809,
 and was married to Mr. Liberty Vaughan in 1823. She crossed the plains with her
 husband and family from Illinois to Oregon in 1852, settled on their donation land claim
 in 1855, and was laid to rest beside her husband in East Chehalem cemetery on
 December 24, 1890, Rev. Martin Cook of Newberg conducting the funeral service. She
 was a member of the United Brethern church and led a true christian life. She leaves five
 grown up sons, Charles and Cyrus Vaughan of Newberg, Or., Miller Vaughan of
 Pendleton, Or., Jonathan Vaughan of Buteville, Or., and Stuart Vaughan of Middleton,
 Or., and one daughter, Mrs. Mariah Jones of Crescent City, California, besides a great
 number of grand and great grand-children, Mrs. T.D. Henderson of this place being one
 of the number. Grandma, as she was familiarly called, has many warm friends. If she has
 an enemy we never heard of it. She had always a kind word for every one. Dear Grandma,
 how we miss thee. Thy suffering is over, sweet be thy sleep.
