Note: Mr. King (Alva) , age 90, fell and was hurt seriously, Monday.

Alva King was born 24 July, 1817 in Tioga County PA. He settled in Linn County IA in 1857. He lived in NE and several counties in KS. He had been a Methodist all his life. He began preaching when 17 years of age, and was a local preacher in ME Church.
He died 11 Sept, 1907, at the age of 90 years. Funeral services were held at the home of his son C.M. King, three miles SE of Towanda.
Services were conducted by Rev. P.C. Herbert and internment in the Towanda Cemetery.

Alva King, grandson of this Alva is also buried in this cemetery in the same plot.
Alva, the elder, preached for many years in Iowa according to Aunt Margaret.
