Found on the 1910 Census as Sister in law to Peter Gulley, Bell County, Kentucky age 11. Father from Kentucky, Mother from Kentucky. Peter Gulley is the head of the household.
What got me started into genealogy was my mamaw who raised my brother and I. I asked her one day who her grandmother was, and she said, "Little Mammy"! I said mamaw, don't you know her name and she said, no, that's what we always called her. Then I asked if she knew her mothers name, meaning her ggrandmother and she said well, "Big Mammy" Of course! Like I should know that. I thought that odd and asked about other family members names and she was very very vague with me. Well, that started it! I went to the library and bought a book on genealogy and started ordering microfilm and searching everywhere I could to find the answers I needed. And guess what!! I'm still doing it. Everytime I would find someones name I'd be so excited and go see her and she would get on me and say you don't need to be poking your nose where it don't belong and why do you want to find all that out for? The most rewarding time though was when I was given a copy of an unknown photo that someone sent me to ask her if she might know who they were. When my mamaw and mother left Harlan Kentucky in the 40's she couldn't bring everything with her so she left a trunk with my Uncle Bud, her brother til he came to Louisville. Well, he came alright, but left the trunk with a cousin until he got back. Some time, maybe a couple of years or so passed and they returned only to find the cousin had moved somewhere in Indiana. No site of the trunk. Well, low and behold, this picture was her mother, father and two of her older sisters. My mamaw was up in age by this time and hadn't seen a picture of them for years! She cried and cried because she was so happy to see a photo of them after all those years. I tried to obtain the other photos from this cousin who somehow mysteriously obtained a trunk full of photos and a bible etc which in acutality belonged to my mamaw but he won't give them up. My mamaw is gone now and I'm sure there are other photos that she would have loved to have seen but it just wasn't meant to be.
