Vaughn 13 DEED OF JAMES VAWN John C Howard to James Vawn Deed This indentures made this 29th day of October 1853 between John C Howard of the county of Harlan and State of Kentucky of the one part and James Vawn of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John C Howard for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained and sold and delivered and by these presents doth grant bargain, sell and deliver to the said James Vawn a certain tract or parcel of land lying in the County of Harlan and bounded as follows to wit, Beginning on the west side of Tory's Creek of Cumberland River near the lap of the ridge on a beach gum and dogwood with a W on it, thence a strait crossing said creek to a high nob at the left of the deer lick, crossing said nob to the extinct of the patent, including all the waters of said creek, except the old patent land, supposed to; contain one thousand acres more or less, with it's appentiances to the said James Vawn his heirs and assigns to warrant and defend the said land and appentiances to the said Vawn from his heirs forever from all and every person claiming the same in any manner whatsoever. In testimony whereof the same John C Howard has hereunto set his hand and seal the date above written. John C Crump Clerk John C Howard to DEED James Vawn This indentures made this 30th day of may 1841 between John C Howard of the County of Harlan and State of Kentucky of the one part and James Vawn of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John C Howard for and in consideration of the sum of twenty five dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell to the said James Vawn a certain tract of land lying in the county aforesaid, containing three hundred acres of part of two three thousand acres surveys of said thousands, the said tract of land includes to the top of Bunker Hill down Indian Ridge two hundred acres binding on Barbara Heltons, Shadrack Heltons and Elisha Heltons lives and one hundred acres including all the lands above Cold Branch, up to Shade Heltons, live with their appendiances to the said James Vaughn his heirs and assigns to warrant and defend the aforesaid tract of land from himself his heirs and from all persons claiming the same in any manner whatsoever, in testimony whereof the same John C Howard has hereunto set his hand and seal the day finish written. Given under my hand this 30th day of May 1841. John C Crump Clerk Barbara Helton to DEED James Vaughn This indentures made this 30th day of May 1847 between Barbara Helton of the County of Harlan and State of Kentucky of the one part and James Vaughn of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Barbara Helton for and in consideration of the sum of twenty five dollars to her in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell to the said James Vaughn a certain tract of land lying in the county aforesaid and on Meadow Creek of Wallins Creek of Cumberland River and bounded as follows to wit: beginning on the north side of said creek on the side of a hill at a white birch and rosewood, thence N78 E20 poles to a hickory and sassafras, thence B36 E34 poles to a white oak, thence N71 E80 poles to a birch, maple and black gum, thence S54 E62 poles to a stake, thence N36 poles to the beginning containing fifty acres with their appurtenances to the said James Vaughn his heirs and assigns to the said Barbara Helton binds herself her heirs and from all persons claiming the same in any manner whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said Barbara Helton has hereunto set her hand and seal the day and date finish written.
