a. Note:   9 Sep 2010 All info on John to date comes from a digital copy of the 1870 US Census for Sand Creek Township, Decatur County, Indiana. In it, John is listed as "John Myres", his wife Samantha and their children are listed with ages. John is listed as a saw mill worker, with no valuable land and his personal estate was valued at $100 ($263 today). He was also listed as unable to read or write.
b. Note:   9 Sep 2010 From LDS records search I found a marriage record for John H Myres and Samantha Stevens, who were married on 15 Apr 1860 (which would be right because Margie/Margy was born in 1861) in Decatur County, Indiana---where John and Samantha Myres were living in 1870. Seems like a pretty good match! I'll need a hard copy to verify though.
 The record indicated that they were granted a marriage license by the state on 12 Apr 1860. Also that Samantha may be spelled, Semantha.
