Note: 9 Sep 2010 Listed on 1880 Census (Indiana) as part of the household of "M J Tucker" (which has to be William Hood Tucker) and "Arella Tucker" (Aurilla Morris Tucker). Their children match: Ed. H., Jas. Albert, Dora Ann, Emma Vaught, and Herbert Vaught.....so in 1880, Emma Tucker had already left her husband, George W. Vaught, and was living with her parents with her 4 year old son, Herbie.
In the 1900 Census, we see that William H. Tucker has died and Aurilla (now Auril---it's cut off--- Tucker) is living with her son, James C. (who I know to be James Albert Tucker) and her grandson (now 24 years old) "Herba" (someone either miss pronounced Herbert or Herbie). Herbie is also listed as a Blacksmith.
From this I can deduce that when Herbie left his adopted home, married Bertha Cornutt and had children, he named his son, my grandfather, James Albert Vaught for his uncle, James Albert Tucker (who apparantly lived with him and Aurilla since Herbie was 4). Which means the James in my son Keaton's middle name has it's roots in the Tucker family!
Herbie is also listed on the 1910 census as "Herbert Vought", living with his wife, Bertha.
In the 1920 census as "Hervy Vaught" living with his wife Bertha and children James Albert Vaught (6) and "Dora Allen Vaught" (1 1/2). He is listed as a farmer, can read and write and speak English.
