I have been following with interest your Beauvau > Briole line. I cannot confirm nor debunk the line up to Foulque II "le Bon", 3rd Comte de Anjou & Gerberge de Gâtinais, but at that point there is a problem. I’m afraid no son of this couple named Foulques Seigneur de Briole is given in any of these sources. I found the connection on several websites but they are all unsourced. Sebastian Tuszynski 25 Jul 2000 msg to SGM, Subject: "A few French question", asked about this filiation (& numerous others). Unfortunately the only response did not address this particular question. Note when researching this on the net, apparently Briolé is Briollay at many websites & on WorldConnect.
This filiation, without any reliable source to confirm it, appears to be an invention. I would love to hear from anyone reading this post-em who is willing provide any sourced info pro or con.
Jim, as an active member, perhaps another query to SGM will get a response this time.

Alas, I no longer have access to a terrific source which may/may not have more to say about Foulques II: "Fragmentum historieae Andegavensis" (Fragments of a History of the Counts of Anjou) From 'Chroniques des comtes d'Anjou et des seigneurs d'Amboise' by Count Fulk le Rechin 1096 (Louis Kalpen and Rene Poupardin), 1913, Paris. Should you find access to the UCLA library which probably has it, you will find this source that may have more to say about Foulques II. If memory serves me right Fulk "le Rechin" wrote many things modern scholars dispute, but he was at least contemporary, though obviously, he may have embellished a thing or two about his ancestry.
