Missouri Written 11 Dec 1873, Proved; 14 March 1874, Recorded; 9 Apr 1874 Will of John SLAGLE State of Missouri County of Polk Will Book A, Pg.226 The Last Will and Testament of John Slagle of Polk County, State of Missouri. I John Slagle considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory and being desirous of settling my worldly affairs while I have strength and capacity so to do make and publish this my last will and testament that is to say; 1st First I give and bequeath to my youngest daughter Mary M. Griffeth the following described tract or _____ of land situated in the state and county aforesaid that is to say the northwest quarter of the northwest quarter of section sixteen township thirty two range twenty and also my personal property household and kitchen furniture. 2nd Second I bequeath to my son-in-law S.A. Derosset and grandson John C. Pike the remaining fivety acres of my farm to be equally divided between them, the said S.A. Derosset and John C. Pike is to pay my son-in-law J.W. Utley the sum of ten dollars which I bequeath to him as his part of my estate real and personal given under my hand seal this December the 11th A.D., 1873. John and Margaret had 6 children. 5. 1827-Henry Co. Tennessee Tax List w/ 1 free poll. 6. Buried at Slagle Cemetery, Slagle, Missouri. 7. Written by Charles Lewman, 1997. The town of Slagle, Polk Co. Missouri: Slagle was never a large town, but did, at one time, have Slagle School, Slagle Store, Slagle Post Office, Slagle Baptist Church, Slagle Cemetery, and Slagle Creek. All that remains are the Slagle Creek, Slagle Churchand Slagle Cemetery. Slagle Church is still active, with services every Sunday. The cemetery is still active and growing.
