They landed in Canada, and proceeded, over a period of about 3 to 5 years, to end up as some of the early settlers of Lake Co. Indiana. According to General Land Office of the BLM, Charles R. Hayward received 80 acres, at the Register of the Land Office at Winamac, Indiana. One Certificate # 20786 is dated 15 April 1853. The second Certificate # 15026 is dated 1 May 1848.
