Note: I knew nothing of him until finding the 1881 census, which clearly shows him as son of Mary (Sales) Cox, living in her household, unmarried. But MWQ knew of him, and said 'Didn't he give the walking stick to Uncle Wilfred ? Aren't they his initials on it?' And indeed, the initials on the stick are AC, and the silver hallmark is for London, 1892: the maker's mark is JK which I cannot trace. I had forgotten to wonder about that.
