  "In the name of God, Amen. I Ezekiel Clifton of the County of Jones, Being sick and weak in Body but of Perfect mind and memory, blessed be God, do this
 fourteenth Day of March, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Two make and ordain this my Last Will and testament in manner and form following That is to say/ First I give and bequeath to my son Nathan fifty acres of land lying on Stones Bay to him and his Heirs forever. ITEM: I give to my son Daniel one Negro fellow called Jack ____ to him and his Heirs forever. ITEM: I give to my wife Sarah the use of the house and Plantation whereon I now Dwell till my Son Ezekiel comes of age. I likewise lend to my wife Three Negroes named Jen, Dinah
 and Rose, all my Plantation Tools, my Household and Kitchen furniture, three head of horses named Garsheth, Ball, and Bonny, all my cattle, seventeen head of sheep, all my hogs and window glass, during her widowhood then to be equally divided between my wife and five daughters named Elizabeth, Nisey, Molsey, Nancy, and Sarah at the discretion of my Executors, to them and their heirs forever. ITEM: I give to my son Ezekiel the land and Plantation whereon I now Dwell to him and his heirs forever. ITEM: The money that is due me on notes of lands or otherwise I allot for the payment of my Debts. ITEM: I give to my son Nathan one mare to him and his heirs forever. ITEM: I give to my son Daniel one horse colt and my best Saddle to him and his heirs forever.
 And lastly, I nominate and appoint my worthy friends Nathan Bryan and Stout Blackshear and Richard Runnels Executors with my wife Sarah Executris to this my last will and Testament Revoking and Disallowing all other wills and Testaments heretofore made confirming this to be my last will and Testament whereunto I have set my hand and Seal the day and year above written.
  SIGNED, SEALED AND DELIVERED Ezekiel Clifton (Seal) IN THE PRESENCE OF US John Barry Rachel Mallard State of North Carolina Jones County Court May Term 1792 This was the written last will and Testament of Ezekiel Clifton dec. in open court in due form of Law by the oath of James Mumford evidence thereto. Also by the oath of Rachel Mallard one of the subscribing witnesses who saw the testator acknowledge the same - and ordered to be recorded at the same time Sarah Clifton the Executris therein named qualified as such agreeable by law, Ordered that Letters Testamentary issue accordingly

 Whereas having been certified as to us that Ezekiel Clifton, late of Jones County is dead and that he hath made his last will and Testament in writing (a true copy of which is hereunto annexed which hath been duly proved before us by the oath of James Munford and Rachel Mallard, two of the subscribing witnesses and ordered to be recorded, at the same time Sarah Clifton the Executrix qualified as such and ordered that letters testamentary issue proven accordingly. We are therefore to empower the said Sarah Clifton to enter into and upon all and singular the goods and chattel, rights and credits of the said deceased and the same into her possession take, wherever in this state to be found and in inventory thereof to return into this Court agreeable to Law, and all the just debts of the deceased to pay as far as his estate will extend and the law will charge her.
