Notes
a. Note:   y grain farmers at Prelate Saskatchewan.Their first son Kenneth drowned in an unfortunate boating accident in 1956.Their second son Donald farmed the Dallard land for many years until his retirement in Medicine Hat Alberta.Their daughter Phyllis presently lives in Edmonton.Aunt Willy was an active volunteer in local social associations and Uncle Noah was an active community leader for the C.C.F political party. He was also envolved in the activities of the local Co-operative Associations. In the early 1930's most of the Bowen boys,Reese,Boadie,John.Jeff and Obadiah went to Prelate at harvest or early spring time and worked for uncle Noah or for other area farmers.Aunt Willa left the Amber Valley area long before I was born so the only memory I had of her were trips her and uncle Noah made to Amber Valley periodically to visit Grandpa Bowen.Years later in the latter years of her life her son Donald would bring her to Calgary and she would ride to Edmonton with me to visit her daughter at Christmas time.I also met her at the bus station at times when she travelled from Medicine Hat on route to Edmonton.Several times she stayed at my home overnight and I feel fortunate that I was able to have this time to visit and become more aquainted with her.I loved to listen as she spoke of the early days and the hardships she experienced pioneering and farming on the prairies.I also have several of the news paper articles authored by aunt Willa which were published in The Free Press or the Family Herald Newspapers two News Papers which were received and read in almost every prairie farm home in Alberta , Saskatchewan, and Manitoba..These articles were an articulate and thoughtful recital by Aunt Willa of the experiences She and her families( Bowen and Dallard) endured in the early days.
