Notes
a. Note:   ee of the Canadian Pacific Railway company first as a Railroad Porter and later as Supervisor of the Red Cap Porter services at the C.P.R main terminal in Calgary.Boadie was responsible for providing an essential service to the travelling public which required that he recruit, staff, train, and supervise the activities of . aproximately 10 to 20 people to perform this job objective.Uncle Boadie enjoyed being at the Canadian Pacific terminal servicing the public as well as working with and meeting the other Canadian Pacific Porters who passed through Calgary on the trains. He also loved working and being at the station because he had dailly contact with C.P R conductors ,trainmen firemen, station employees, and others that he had known for years.Often the trains were late which required that work shifts be adjusted to handle the late trains etc.often even on his days off uncle Boadie could not stay away from the station and would drop in to visit and socialize with others.
Even though uncle Boadie lived in Calgary he still continued to farm his homestead land in Amber Valley Alberta.Boadie went back to Amber Valley at least twice a year and with his brother Obadiah they worked the land seeded, the grain. and harvested the crops for many years until their retirements.I remember him arriving early in the spring and again in the fall each year.I remember him visiting with Grandpa Bowen, giving us kids a dollar or so ,and then getting up early the next day to drive the tractor in the field from dawn to dusk.He was also a very good guitar player and could play spiritual songs like,Down at the cross, very, very well,In my opinion few people could ever play and pick songs on a guitar in the unique way that uncle Boadie could,That unique, beautiful sounding, picking style is indeed a lost art now....... I Vernon, when I first came to Calgary lived at uncle Boadie and aunt Vee's home for seven years (June1959until july1966)and I could not have been treated any better even if I had been living in my own parents home.Uncle Boadie was my dad's brother, aunt Vee my mother's sister, and staying at their home was just the same as if I had been at my own parents home in every way.I loved and respected them both very, very much....Uncle Boadie's homestead land as well as his Calgary home is still owned and administered by his children.
Note:   Boadie Bowen the second son of Willis Bowen Sr. was a long time employ
