Note: ved most of his adult life in Winnipeg Manitoba after he left Amber Valley.John also worked for Noah Dallard and other prairie farmers at harvest time in the early thirties.John and brother Ed Bowen owned and operated several trucks in Winnipeg and the surrounding area hauling gravel,loam etc for local area consruction companies building roads,houses,apartments blocks, highways, streets, etc. John also made frequent trips back to Amber Valley over the years to visit Grandpa Bowen.On these trips John also visited all his other relatives in Barrhead, Edmonton and Calgary.I have pleasant and fond memories of the times I visited Winnipeg on business trips over the years, sometimes staying in hotels for a week or more at a time.,John would come down to our Company office go for lunch,or Chinese food with me and take me on tours of the parks ,zoo,and surrounding areas around Winnipeg.We visited Victoria Beach ,Winnipeg Beach, and other out of town resort areas and he would take me regularily to visit Ed Bowen and Family.In general he took me where ever I chose to go. I appreciate, and was thankful that he was never too busy to show me around.John loved to visit,do things for, and associate with his relatives.John retired from the Canadian Pacific Railway Company in 1970 and lived the ramaining years of his life in Winnipeg..
