Note: l truck) train crash and was killed instantly March tenth 1971.She had came to Edmonton stayed a few days with daughters Norma and Shirley and was in route to visit a friend at Wildwood Alberta when the driver of the truck her nephew Hubert Taylor decided to go into a small town off the main highway to possibly buy fresh fish.Up on entering the town of Wabanum Alberta,approxiamately 50 miles east of Edmonton there is the Canadian National main line railway track.The accident happened just across the street from an Esso service station and some of the employees at this station actually saw the accident happen.I visited the site along with my father Obadiah,Reese,Boadie,and John Bowen,and it was painful to view the site and talk to the people who had saw my mother killed.Mothers death forever altered things in our family.Prior to Mother's death Christmas was always celebrated at Amber Valley every year.Oliver and I would leave Calgary late Christmas eve,pick up Norma and Shirley in Edmonton if they had not already gone home,and we would all arrive on the farm late Christmas eve night or early morning Christmas day.Often Mom(Eva) and Dad (Obadiah) had stayed up and it was a special feeling to be home at that time of year.After mother's passing as a family we never celebrated another Christmas at Amber Valley.Even though I returned several times each year to visit Dad on the farm,home at Amber Valley was never the same after Mother was gone,so our family there after has met in Edmonton or Calgary with Dad to celebrate Christmas time..
