BURZYNSKI, 91, of Tomball, passed away January 8, 2009. First born of Louis and Rosalie Warzon Burzynski. Preceeded in death by his parents, brother: John, sister Clara Snow. Survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Starr Burzynski, sons: Ralph and wife Vanessa, Mark and wife Marie, six grandchildren, Emily, Matthew, Mandy, Andrew, Aaron and Luke, sisters: Bessie Smith, Effie Sulek, brothers: Gene and Joe. He was a Charter Member of K of C Council 4550; Honorary Member K of C Council 8482, Charter Member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Prince of Peace Keenagers and the Cypress Creek YMCA. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 in the chapel of Klein Funeral Home. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 1111 South Cherry St. Tomball. The Rite of Committal is at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Anderson, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Anne's Catholic Church. A mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Tomball and officiated by Msgr. Dan Scheel. The Rite of Committal was held at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church cemetery in Anderson and officiated by Msgr. Dan Scheel. Services were conducted under the direction of Klein Funeral Home in Tomball.Rufus was born on May 17, 1917 near Anderson in Grimes County, Texas to Louis and Rosalie Warzon Burzynski. He loved traveling, baseball and fishing. He retired from Cameron Iron Works in 1982 after 30 years of service. He was a charter member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Houston and a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Tomball. He was also a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4550 in Houston and an honorary member of Knights of Columbus Council 8482 in Tomball. He was a member of the Cypress Creek YMCA and the Prince of Peace Keenagers Club of Tomball. Rufus and Shirley Burzynski were married on July 5, 1952 at All Saints Catholic Church in Houston. They lived in the Spring Branch area for 30 years. In 1983 they moved to Coldspring near Lake Livingston, where they lived for the next 15 years. In 1998 they moved to Tomball. In 2008 Rufus was moved to Tomball Nursing Center in Tomball. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John Burzynski and sister Clara Snow. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Shirley Starr Burzynski, sons Ralph Burzynski and wife Vanessa of Bedias; Mark Burzynski and wife Marie of Tomball; grandchildren, Jessica Columbus of Katy, Emily Burzynski of Sherman Oaks, California, Andrew and Aaron Burzynski of Bedias, Matthew, Mandy and Luke Burzynski of Tomball; brothers Eugene Burzynski and Raymond Burzynski of Richards; sisters, Effie Sulek of Houston and Bessie Smith of Hillsboro, Texas. Pallbearers were Richard Burzynski, Alan Burzynski, Leo Burzynski, Bill Starr Jr., Gary Johnson and Kevin Meals. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Kurtin and Blake Starr (who is currently stationed in Iraq).
