 "Offhouse---Lydia Lane, at Poughkeepsie, New York, January 18, 1954. Services from 20 Smith Street, Wednesday, January 20 at 2 p.m. Friends may call at 20 Smith Street Tuesday evening. Interment Poughkeepsie Rural cemetery in charge of McCornac Funeral Service."---The Poughkeepsie New Yorker, Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York, issue Tuesday, 19 Jan 1954, p.16.
 "Mrs. John C. Offhouse, 90, who resided with her daughter, Mrs. Charles V. Buys, 2 Fox terrace, died yesterday in Vassar hospital. She had been ill for several years. The former Miss Lydia Lane, Mrs. Offhouse was born in West Woodstock, Jan. 29, 1863, the daughter of the late Alfred and Catherine Traver Lane. She came to this city from Clinton, N.J., to make her home, 60 years ago. Her husband died in June 1927. Mrs. Offhouse was a member of the Reformed church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Buys and Mrs. Charles D. Ostrander, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; grandsons, Douglas C. Buys, Beacon, and Donald C. Ostrander, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a granddaughter, Mrs. Russell Blythe, Slingerlands, and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 20 Smith street at 2 o'clock, tomorrow. The Rev. Franklin J. Hinkamp, minister of the Reformed church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Poughkeepsie Rural cemetery, under the direction of the McCornac Funeral service.
