Note: Emil was supposedly a professor of philosophy and author in Berlin. According to his naturalization papers, he immigrated to the United States on 28 Oct 1891 aboard the S.S. EMS which sailed out of Bremen with a stop at Southampton, England, port of entry New York and was likely processed through the Old Barge Office. Emil appears on SS EMS ship list as Dr. Emil Dorn, age 45, physician, resident of the United States. He boarded at Southampton, England, one piece of luggage and occupied a first class cabin. Traveling with him is Emil Dorn Jr, age 6. Emil declared his intention to become a citizen of the United States on 20 Jul 1894 by filing papers in the Eastern District Court of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia. At this time, he was age 48 and a resident of 725 Wood Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Emil moved to New York City about July 1895, where he took the oath of citizenship on 25 Jan 1898 at the Southern District Court of New York. At this time, he was a resident of 141 East 48th Street, New York City, occupation author/editor. Emil died age 60 of absess liver, duodenal ulcer, stricture colon, cholecystitis. He was cremated, ashes buried in Graceland Cemetery (section C, Lot 820, grave 44), Chicago, Illinois.
