a. Note:   Jane was born Jan 1840 in Ireland, died 25 Oct 1907 at 140 West 109th Street, Manhattan, New York County, New York. Jane was certified 28 Sep 1869 to practice as Midwife and Ladies Nursetender by Sir Patrick Dun's Hospital, Dublin, Ireland. Jane immigrated to the United States in 1873, two years before her husband and children, probably because she was better trained to obtain employment and prepare for their arrival. This was common practice at the time but it was usually the husband who came over first, then sent for the family after obtaining employment and securing a place to live. Jane died of "hemorrhage from ulcer of stomach" and was buried in St. Michaels Cemetery, East Elmhurst, Queens County, New York, Grave 130, Row 13, Plot 5, no stone or marker.
