Nixon. I can verify most of the information that you have posted and can update information regarding James Hamilton Nixon and down. I was just at the cemetery where James H. Nixon is buried this weekend accumulating additional information. I don't know if the information posted is yours or if you posted it for someone else, I will await your response on that. I will tell you that John W--W is for Wallace--died in 1863 at the battle of Vicksburg and is buried there. He volunteered for the CSA at a late age as they need a Blacksmith. Will Isaac Cole was the first of the family to leave Alabama after the war and settle in Sugar Loaf. He came in the early 1870's. Will Isaac was an attorney and setup his practive in the thriving community. He was joined by his brother Richard Moses in early 1874. James Hamilton, Susan Emily, Alice Rosser Cole, William T. Cole, and many, if not all, of the Nixon children left Alabama on this trip. In late October of 1873 they had reached Jefferson County Arkansas. It was here that young (not quite 2) Frances Viola Nixon died. I know from Killeen early settler records that R.M. "Dick" Cole arrived in 1874. We know that by November of 1874 the Nixon family was back in Merrelton. By the late 1870's and early 1880's. John A. and U. H. had brought their families to Sugar Loaf. I'll write more when I have a moment. LOL, Glenda p.s. A really good book to have is " Killeen- a Tale of Two Cities" by GraDelle Duncan. The Nixons and the Coles were very prominent families. Many stories and history of the family can be found within the pages.
