Note: There was another Dawson living with Thomas who was Granville age 19, not sure if he was a nephew living with them or what he was listed after the main children of Philadelphia age 19, Ellen age 15 and Hillary age 13, Also last was listed a John R. Dawson age 43. This was in the 1850 Allegany Co. Census in Maryland.
1810 Census Allegany Co., Dist. 3 (Frostburg/Westernport) lists Thomas Dawson, one male under 10, one male 10-16, one male age 16-26, One male 26-45 and two females under 10, one female 10-16, one female 16-26, one female age 26-45 and one marked in other column.
1850 Census Allegany Co. shows Thomas Dawson age 53, wife age 52 named Anna, children were Philadelphia age 19, Ellen age 15, Hillary (male) age 13, Granville age 19 and also a John R. (Ravenscroft) Dawson age 43.
Will of Thomas W. Dawson, copy provided by Mrs. Periman who got it from Allegany Co., Md.
"In the name of God, Amen, I Thomas W. Dawson, of Allegany Co., Maryland, being weak in body but of sound and ?disproving mind memory and understanding, do mark or ? publish and writtn the following to be my last will and testament:
1. I direct that my debts and funeral charges be paid and that the places of my interment be suyitable marked ??????.
2. I authorize and direct my 4 cents herein after named to sell in his discretions the farms where on George W. Dayton now resides in said County, and convert the land into money and then I give one third of said money to my daughter Matilda Poland, one other third there of I give to the children of my descend? daughter Isabella Crabtree and the other one third I give to the children of my deceased?
daughter Philadelphia Dayton.
From said daughter Matilda Poland I give and divide all that part of my house farm, in said county, beginning for said part in a white oak tree standing in the trunk of the river appoint? my mother's old house and mining up the county road to the railroad fill then up the right bank of said fill to a forked apple tree then north westerly wereon the meadow to a wild cherry tree near the hill under pines? then with the ?? to the top of the hill then to the right with the fence to a white oak on the bank of the Clarylick river and still north the ??? up and over the ridge to Blackwater Lick Run then to the ??? of Thomas P. Green and with his land to the county road to the beginning.
4. To my son Hillary C. Dawson, I give and devide all the rest and ?? of my ??? and personal ???, when so?? situate?
5. I hereby reli? John T. Ravenscraft from the payment of two single bells?-one bring for $500 and the other for $400 the sum being interrred by me an ??? to his wife.
6. And lastly I appoint my said son Hillary C. Dawson four cents of this my last will and testament working and selling ?? former wills by me hereto ?? made ratifying and confirming this and name others to be my last will and testament. Witness my and and seal, this 26th day of January, in the year eighteen hundred and eighty. Hand signed by Thomas W. Dawson. ALso document signed by witnesses of R. D. Ravenscroft, Edward M. A Thomas Dawson age 9 born in England on page 96. A Wm. H. Dawson age 24 born in Md. on page 114. Jno. F. Dawson age 48 born in Scotland page 85. Lotte Dawson age 70 born in Md. on page 114. Pearce M. Dawson age 11 born in Va. page 114. Sarah Dawson age 43 born in Va. on page 113. Eli W. Dawson age 35 born in Va. on page 114. Hanson K. Dawson age 24 born in Md on page 114. Henry C.
