Note: departed this life Nov. 15th, 1902, at the aged of 79 years, 6 monthsand 7 days. He was the eighth of twelve children of John andElizabeth Weirich. When he was four years old his parents moved toWayne County, Ohio, where he lived with them on the farm until sixteenyears of age. He then began to learn the shoemakers trade, serving anapprenticeship of two and one half years, after working some time as ajourneyman he engaged in business for himself. In 1850 he came toDeKalb County, Indiana and bought 40 acres of wild land in section 16Fairfield township, to this he afterward added 10 acres, and aftergetting it partly improved sold it and bought the 120 acres which bebrought from a wild timbered state to one of advance cultivation. InAugust 1902, he sold his farm and bought property in Hudson, Steubencounty, Indiana, where he lived until death called him to Spiritworld. He was married April 11, 1844 to Carolina Reinoehl a native ofLebanon Co., Pennsylvania, daughter of John and Catherine Reinoehl,early settlers of Wayne Co., Ohio. They have had a family of sevenchildren, four of whom are living, Joseph, John, Jess, and Alice wifeof Samuel Smith. His stay in Hudson though brief made him a goodlynumber of friends. His words bore the kindness of his spirit, he wasa lover of music, the children learned to love him. He was not amember of any church, but a few days before his death sang in acheerful spirit some of the old camp meeting hymns he loved andexpressed his belief in things spiritual. His sould goes to God whereit waits the final judgment. Funeral services were held in Fairfieldchurch, Nov. 18th, Rev. F. B. Walmer of Waterloo, officiating,assisted by Rev. M.C.
