  OBITUARY: THE REPORTER 28 April 1998: Services for John Joseph Levine, 72, of Hatfield Township, who died Thursday evening at Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill, will be Sunday afternoon in Gwynedd Square Presbyterian Church in Upper Gwynedd.
 He was the husband of Sandra (Shmidheiser) Levine. The couple had been married 20 years.
 Born in Philadlephia, he was a son of the late Victor George and Julia (Rutledge) Levine.
 A 22-year veteran fo the U.S. Army, he first served in Kunming, China, training Chinese troops. Later, he served as a platoon sergeant during the Korean War. He returned with his regiment to Hawaii, where he served as a rifle instructor. Later, when assigned to Fort Knox, he was NCO team leader of an elite group of eight shooters on the Marksmanship Committee. He ended his military career in Germany, when the Berlin Wall was erected.
 After his discharge, he moved to the North Penn area and was employed as an employment counselor by the Pennsylvania Job Service in Lansdale. During his tenure there, he was lent to the federal government for a tour of duty to bases in the Far East to explain benefits to troops preparing to return home. He also was sent to Fort Indiantown Gap to help with the resettlement program for Vietnamese refugess.
 Following his retirement he worked as a part-time customer service representative for ICI Americans Inc. until the time of his death. Mr. Levine was a member of Gwynedd Square Presbyterian Church, where he was active in the Sunday school and choir.
 He enjoyed visiting friends and family in Europe and took pleasure in hosting many international visitors.
 For a number of years, he bowled in leagues at Lans-Bowl Lanes in Lansdale. He enjoyed playing golf on local courses.

 John Joseph Levine, 72 of Hatfield Township, a retired job counselor and former Army career man who trained Chinese troops during World War II died Thursday at Grand View Hopsital near Sellersville.
 Mr. Levine, who was born and educated in Philadelphia, enlisted in the Army in December 1942 and went to China to train troops for fighting in the China-Burma-India Theater. He was an Army platoon sergeant during the war in Korea.
 Later, he was a rifle instructor in Hawaii and was a noncommissioned leader of a group of marksmen at Fort Knox, Ky. His Army career of more than 20 years ended in Germany as the Berlin Wall was going up.
 He settled in the Lansdale area and was an employment counselor for the Pennsylvaia Job Service. He was loaned to the federal government to tour bases in the Far East and explain the benefits available to service personnel preparing to leave the military. He also spent time at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pa, helping with resettlement of Vietnamese refugess.
 After retiring from the Job Service in 1987, he was a part-time customer service representative for ICI Americas Inc., a Wilmington-based chemical company.
 Mr. Levine was a member of Gwynedd Square Presbyterian Church, where he was active Sunday school and sang in the choir.
 He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sandra Shmidheiser Levine. A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday in George Washington Memorial Park, Butler Pike and Stenton Avenue, Plymouth Meeting. A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at Gwynedd Square Presbyterian Church, 837 Sumneytown Pike, Upper Gwynedd Township.
