Note: Velia was born and raised on Hannah St. Oakland, Ca. She was the 5th of 8 children. She talked fondly of her childhood and cousins.Her father died T.B. in 1934. When her mother remarried the family moved to So. San Francisco, Ca. Velia was a senior at Oakland Tech, and non to happy about the move! If they hadn't of moved I wouldn't be writing this story. She would met my Dad at a Legion Hall dance in 1943, date 6 weeks and got married on August 18, 1943. Talk about your whirlwind romance, but there was a war going on and that's how things were done. He shipped out in Oct. Just enough time to make a baby, yours truly....M.om was quite a woman. She had 5 kids, kept house, sewed, cooked, did Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, PTA and worked. Had time to go to Little League games, was uniforms, she was the true Super Woman.
