a. Note:   According to, "The Vinton Memorial", Jacob Brown Vinton is said to have traveled
 to California in the early 1850's. Have a copy of a letter written by "Mrs. Mary Vinton" I believe written to her daughter-in-law
 Eliza and she mentions having heard from "Hammond and Jacob" as they were traveling to
 the West Coast by boat from Panama. He is listed in the 1870 Census for Frio County, Texas and the 1880 Census for
 Frio County, Texas. He and his wife, Carmelia Mancha, are the parents of nine
 children.
