a. Note:   John Vinton was my great grandfather and he was born about 1865 according to the 1870 and
 1880 Census records for Frio County, Texas. My father, John C. Vinton, told me that his grandpa
 John spoke very little Spanish. He went on to say that his grandpa married a woman by the name
 of Candelaria Resendez whose family was from Laredo, Texas. It was said that her family owned
 quite a bit of land along the Mexico-Texas border around the town of Laredo and that she also owned
 some of the family land, but that after her death, that all the land reverted back to her family.
 Candelaria and John only had two sons together, Jim Resendez Vinton and Eloy Vinton. ( Have a
 family portrait of John and his two sons together, taken when Jim R. Vinton was between the ages of
 5 and 7).
