Note: Mom's biological father was James Norman McLellan: Date of death: 07 Jan 1954 in Westmorland County (apparently, he was hit by a car while drunk). Marriage: 19 Oct 1914 to Melic�ee Lautreau in Westmorland County _______________________________________________________ Mom and Dad were set to get married in Montreal at St ________________ on Hays Market Street in Montreal; their banns had been read for 3 weeks and then the minister asked who was going to sign for Mom, seeing as she was underage, she was 20 years old; you needed to be 21 in Quebec (even when I got married). Because Mom did not have a guardian to sign for her, and Ontaario's age of majority was 20 years old, and, also, because they had family and friends in Hamilton, they decided to come to Ontario to get married.

Note: Death Notices (11/08/05) HOLDGATE, Elizabeth (Betty) (nee Maltby). Passed away peacefully in the Verdun Hospital on Monday, November 7, 2005, at the age of seventy-eight years, beloved wife of fifty-eight years of Horace. Devoted mother to Heather and Gordon (Diane), cherished grandmother of Bryce (Michelle). Also surviving are her sisters, Jean and Edith and several nieces and nephews. The visitation will be held from the Chapel of Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources Blvd. D.D.O., QC (514) 685-3344 on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will also be held at Rideau Chapel on Thursday, November 10, 2005 at 1 p.m. with visitation one half hour prior to the service.
