Note: LOST ALL MY NOTES ON MOTHER AND DADDY JULY 2, 2011~~~WHAT'S GOING ON. WHO KNOWS HOW MANY OTHERS I LOST <GROAN> Today, Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at 4:35 pm my lovely mother passed away after a 6-month battle with osteoporosis. She dropped from about 125 pounds in April to less than 75 pounds. She could barely hold her body up the last time we took her to the commode which was 2:30 this morning. We put her back to bed and she literally collapsed on the bed, staying in one position, which was common for her, so we let her stay that way thinking she would move her legs as she wished. She never moved her legs from that position the whole night so the next time we went in the bedroom, we straightened them out and she moaned from the pain. After a while we felt she had slept long enough and we tried to wake her but she wouldn't wake up. We called Hospice and continued to try to wake her for at least an hour before Hospice came over. All our lives she never shared her relationship with the Lord with her three daughters who are strong Christian believers. On Monday evening my two sisters were with her and just asked her if she asked Jesus into her heart and she said "yes". A little later, they asked again to be sure she understood and she said "yes" again. The third time they asked, she got a little mad and my sisters asked if she was mad. She said "yes". They asked why and she said "because you keep asking me"! Today she never opened her eyes all day long for fourteen hours and no one could get her awake; we talked to her and tried so so many times to wake her, rubbing her arms, stroking her hair and massaging her legs. Then at the very last moments, after being in what looked like a coma, her mouth started to move as if she was trying to speak, her eyes were just barely trying to open and then as if someone called her name from a sound sleep, she all of a sudden opened her eyes very wide looking up as if she could see something that was very beautiful. The look on her face was the look of astonishment, awe, peaceful and happiness all rolled into one and then she slowly and very peacefully closed her eyes and it was over. Isn't it interesting that you hear so many stories about this kind of departing, which was a most wonderful blessing for us to see. I wish I knew what caused her to suddenly open her eyes, especially when she barely had the strength to open them for the past four months. I have heard many stories of what departing loved ones see; one day we will know just what she did see. I'd like to think it was a Chariot of Angels with a "Welcome Home" from Jesus. After six months of constant suffering, without complaint, we are just happy that she is now free of pain and we look forward to that glorious reunion one day. So today was a very sad but most beautiful day too. She will be sorely missed! I love you, Mother. Until we meet again........ With Love from your youngest daughter, Verna Mae Braddock Campbell ****************************************************************** I was born Nellie Mae Roberts in Key West, Florida in the County of Monroe on September 19, 1917 to Albert "Abby" N. Roberts and Mabel B. Pinder. I lived in Key West until 1922 when at 5 years old we moved to Miami, Florida in the County of Dade. There I grew up, went to school, and married in 1934 to William Vernon Braddock. We had three children: all girls - Patricia "Patty", Yvonne and Verna Mae. They all grew up there and they all married and lived most of the time in Miami, Florida. We lived the last 22 1/2 years in Coconut Grove (a suburb of Miami). In August of 1973 we moved to Orange City, Florida in the County of Volusia where we still reside: until death do us part. Written by: Nellie R. Braddock, 701 W. French Avenue, Orange City, Florida approx. date Feb 1996 ****************************************************************** My daily reminder: When we lost our mother last year on October 5th, her passing was like the heavens opened up with Jesus and a chariot of angels, with opened arms, inviting her to come. We thank God daily for the priceless look on her face at that moment she passed. It was without a doubt the most precious, sweet and unexpected gift from God that we shall never forget. Praise God that we can look forward to unfolding the mysteries that await us as we join our loved ones when it is our turn. In the meantime, we shall tarry. See posting on Karen Nelson's Research page: http://karennelson.familytreeguide.com/getperson.php?personID=I1713&tree=T1 The Roberts family moved to Miami in 1922 and then Nellie Mae and Georgie moved back to Key West to live with Mama Georgie and Daddy Willie (their maternal grandparents) after their Mother died. Nellie Mae's birth certificate says Nellie May Roberts. ****************************************************************** THE PEOPLE & CULTURE OF THE BAHAMAS http://www.geographia.com/bahamas/thepeople.htm HISTORY OF THE BAHAMAS http://www.keyshistory.org/bahamas.html General Keys History http://www.keyshistory.org/generalhistory.html ****************************************************************** CERTIFICATE OF BAPTISM Nellie May Roberts Child of Mr. Albert N.
