Note: LIVINGSTON - Funeral services for Vernon L Linton, 78, of Onalaska were held Sunday, March 18, 1984 from the Cochran Funeral Chapel with Bro. Frank Shirley officiating, assisted by Bro. Dale Mitchell. Interment followed in Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska. Mr. Linton died March 16 at his residence In Onalaska. He was born Aug. 7, 1906 in Groveton, the son of the late Lee and Helen Linton. He was reared and educated in Trinity County and married the former Opal Falrcloth on Feb. 7, 1928 in Onalaska. They lived in Polk County for the past 17 years. Mr. Linton retired from. Monsanto, where he was employed as a chief night superintendent. He was employed with Monsanto for 35 years. He was a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church in Onlaska and a member of Trinity Lodge No. l4 in Livlngston. He was a Mason for 50 years. Survivors include his wife, Opal Linton of Onalaska; two sons, Vernon L. Linton Jr. of Lubbnck and Thomas L. Linton of clear Lake City; granddaughter, Rebecca Mary Albin of Sweetwater; three grandsons Benjamin Lee Linton of Lubbock, Thomas Andrew Linton of Austin and Douglas Alexander Linton of Clear Lake City, two great granddaughters, Amy Michele Albin and Sara Beth Albin of Sweetwater;brother, John Milton Linton and sister, Helen Moore of Crockett. Pallbearers were John R. Linton, James A. Linton, Wendell Linton, Emken Linton, B.R. Baker and Ed Faircioth. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Faith Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church of Onalaska. A.H. Clark, Louis Pavlock, Leonard Phillips, Ray Walker, Joe Burton, Cleo Balch, C.E. Shane, W. O. Kirsh, Leon Cobb, G.H. (Gay) Clark, Howard Dewey, Vester Bud Wolf, Lee Henderson, Lawrence Phillips, Doyle Smith and John Damuth. Cochran Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Vernon was a 32nd Degree Mason. He served as Master of Eastern Star Lodge #284, Trinity, Texas
