I have traced them through the Censuses, and everything fits, though a.. in the 1841C John and Sarah plus 4 children plus an apprentice and a carpenter (in GG) are on the same page as Thomas and Charlotte! b.. in the 1851C John plus 2 children (still in GG, but Sarah is dead) have a servant (by 1861C he was a 'shepherd' and in prison for debt [obviously the black shepherd of the family]); by 1871C he was a pauper in the Berkhamsted workhouse; he died in 1873) mike said... ---------------------------------------------- John. The 1841 census shows at home (Water End, GG, just 2 doors from Thomas and Charlotte) were: John COOK,b.c.1798 in Herts, a wheelwright; wife Sarah, b.c.1806 in Herts (buried, aged 49, 17/12/1850); children Mary Ann, b.2/8/1820, bp. 24/9/1820; Maria, b.1/9/1825, bp. 23/10/1825; Eliza, b. 20/7/1829, bp. 6/9/1829; Richard, b. 17/5/1832, bp. 10/6/1832. [No mention of Elizabeth].
