From National Fire Service "Certificate of Service": Part-time service with Local Authority Fire Brigade: 30-4-1941 to 17-8-1941 Part-time service with National Fire Service: 18-8-1941 to 24-5-1942 Whole-time service with National Fire Service: 25-5-1942 to 11-3-1945 Went back to work in 1961(?) when her son Peter was nine, at the Air Ministry (Adastral House) in London. Then, due to travel difficulties, moved to the Wimbledon Telephone Manager's Office in Worple Road, Wimbledon. Finally moved to the Central Electricity Research Laboratories in Cleeve Road, Leatherhead, Surrey, as a finance clerk. To save her son Peter the same problems at school that her husband had suffered through teasing over the name Vice, the family name was changed to VINCE on the 16th September 1957, just before Peter started infants' school.
