Notes
a. Note:   ortedly so excited at the birth of his son, he just used this shorter work name when registering the birth. Home address as child: 83, Albyn Road, Deptford, London, England. Attended, amongst others, Wimbledon Technical College in Palmerston Road, Wimbledon, London, England. Served as a pilot of Dakotas during World War 2, initially based at Down Ampney, then spending time in South Africa, Rhodesia, Cairo (Egypt), and Singapore. Had a great time, as he was well away from the fighting! After returning to work in the GPO Telephone Service after the Second World War, there were already three other Berts in the team, so he was persuaded to use his second name George, and always used that thereafter. Address from 1949(?) to 1968: 110, Tudor Drive, Morden, Surrey, England. Working as a Technical Officer at Mitcham Telephone Exchange. Address from 1968 to 2010: 19, Links Road, Ashtead, Surrey, KT21 2HB, England. Worked as TO(A) in Bookham Telephone Exchange until his retirement in 1984. Operation at Kingston Hospital, Surrey, for ruptured artery near stomach in 1986. Triple heart bypass at St.Anthony's Hospital, North Cheam, Surrey, in 2003. Suffered Alzheimers (memory loss) in last few years. Lung infection in September 2010 led to pnuemonia and death on 8th of November 2010. Blood group O+
Note:   His father's surname was actually Batteson-Vice, but as he worked in a factory (winding electrical transformers), a double-barreled name would have led to ridicule, so he just used "Vice". He was rep
