Note: Orlen joined the armed services on July 15,1942 as a private in the US Army. His first assignment was Fort Knox Kentucky from there to Camp Wheeler Ga.
He left the United States on June 5,1943 from Camp Patrick Henry Va, arrived at Casablanca North Africa.
He was engaged in battles at Naples Foglia,Germany and Arno Rome Italy.
Returned back to the states September 8,1945 at Camp Picket on the ship Blue Ridge Victory.
Discharge honorably on September 26,1945.

Personal records of the Clinchfield Coal Company,Division of the Pittston company,address listed as Widen WV A 25211, and it's predecessor ELK RIVER COAL and LUMBER COMPANY shows that Orlen Godfrey Butcher was employed from July 7,1941 to July 10,1942; and from October8,1945 to July 17,1948.
Orlen was employed at Westmoreland Coal Company Imperal Smokeless Division until his retirement on November 24,1982.
