Note: Aunt Grace says Reuben was cleaning a well in Jasper, Walker Co., AL when it caved in and he was killed around 1876. Samantha left by wagon train with their children. She first lived around Lee Co., MS in an area called 20 Mile Bottom. Then, she moved to Piney Grove area. Aunt Grace said she moved here to "be near her people". I have tried to connect her with the Taylor line in the Piney Grove area, but haven't been able to do so. I've come to the conclusion that she came to be near the Burress side. 1880 Prentiss Co., MS census District 168, page 167 household number 397 BURRESS Emeline, white, female, widow age 29, born Beat 1 in AL father born FL, mother born AL James, son, male, single age 11, born AL AL AL J.A., daughter, single age 10, born AL AL AL Ruben, son, single age 3, born MS AL AL Her pregnancy with George W.
