Notes
a. Note:   The following article appeared in the Beloit Daily News:
SOUTH BELOIT WOMAN BURNED IN EXPLOSION Mrs. George Fiese Endeavors to start Fire in Kitchen stove with Kerosene, Saves One year old Child. Woman lies in hospital here in critical condition--neighbors give aid. Mrs. George Fiese, Washington Street, South Beloit, was severely burned and her one year old child narrowly escaped a similar fate, when a kerosene can with which the mother was kindling a fire exploded in her hands.
Mrs. Fiese at the time of the explosion threw the child from her before endeavoring to extinguish the flames which enveloped her.
The woman lies in a critical condition at the Beloit General Hospital where she was rushed immediately after the explosion.
 NEIGHBORS EXTINGUISH FIRE
Mr. and Mrs. Grant Turner who live in an adjoining house, heard the explosion and rushed to the house as Mrs. Fiese came to the door, a veritable torch. They threw her on the floor and wrapped a rug about her in an effort to smother the flames but the frantic woman escaped and ran into the yard where she rolled in the snow. When the flames were finally extinguished she is said to have been practically devoid of clothing.
A physician was summoned and she was taken to the hospital in an automobile, Mrs. Fiese being able to walk to the car practically unassisted. An examination at the hospital revealed the serious nature of the injuries, there being only a small spot on her back that was not burned, physicians assert.
She has been conscious and able to converse with members of her family since the accident although stimulated by sedatives.
HAS THREE CHILDREN Mrs. Fiese is 25 years old and has three children: Lottie, 5; Doris, 3; and Russell 1. She was in the act of preparing dinner and was hastening the fire by applying kerosene from a gallon can when the explosion occurred. The flames were confined to a small portion of the kitchen, the linoleum covering the floor, checking the fire, it is said.
