Note: Some time after 1850, Peter left his home in Columbiana OH and relocated
with his two brothers, Samuel and Andrew to Spencer CTY IN where he
met Catharine Hermann and married 28 JAN 1858. Peter was a farmer
and was living on a farm in Clay TWP.

Died Monday evening at 8 o'clock, Aug. 31, Mr Peter Wetzel, of stomach trouble. He had been in poor health for several years, but was up and around with the family until the last few months he began to fail fast. He was a man who staid at home and attended to his own business and thought it best for every one to do the same. Therefore, he will be greatly missed among his home folks especially. He spent his Sundays at home with his Bible as his friend. Not only did he look at it but he read it constantly and during the last summer one could often hear him remark that he hoped the Lord would soon call him home from this world of suffering to that beautiful home above, where he awaits to some day meet his dear ones that are left to mourn over him. Had he lived until the 20th of October he would have been 75 years old. Funeral services were conducted from his residence at 9 o'clock, Wednesday morning by Rev. Schancenbacher. His remains were laid to rest in the M. E. cemetary, of which he was a member. He leaves a weeping wife and six children, three of them married and three single. We join in and sympathize with the entire family in this sad bereavement.
