a. Note:   Robert L. Linton, resident of Trinity County since 1890 died at 3:25 a.m. Saturday, May 30, in Dan Forth Hospital in Texas City following an illness or about four weeks. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the First Methodist Church Trinity, with Rev. Joe B. Wells, former pastor officiating. Assisting were Rev. John L. Cannon and Rev. J. R. Reedy. Interment was in Cedar Grove Cemetery under the direction of Renfro Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Dan Calihan, Bert Smith, Leroy Hardy, Harry Cohen, J. R. Cocreham Daryl Morrow, and Fritz Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were T. J. Aycock, Ernest Cochran, Sam Cohen, J. B. Thornton, Chas. Hazard, J. E. Evans, W. L. Hudson, Joe Clark, Frank Brantley, Able Ford and H. S. Key. Mr. Linton was a member of the Methodist church. The oldest of nine children, Robert L. Linton was born in Monticello Fla. December 16, 1871. All other members of his family preceded him in death. He came to Texas in 1890 being employed by the L. T. Sloan Lumber Co. in Walker county at Pine Valley. On June 22, 1896 he was married to Miss Helen Cox of Groveton. The same year they moved to Groveton. To this union was born six children all of whom survive with his wife. In 1914, the Linton family moved to Carlisle where Mr Linton was engaged in farming and raising stock until 1946 when he and his wife moved to Trinity. Mr. Linton is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Mamie Earman and Mrs. Helen Young of Houston, four sons, J. M. Linton of Trinity, S. E. Linton of Fairbanks Vernon and Fred Linton of Texas City; ten grand-children and four great-grandchildren
