a. Note:   SEGRAVES RITES SET James William Segraves, 99 died in a Knoxville hospital Saturday afternoon November 16, 1957, after a lengthy illness. Born in North Carolina, he had lived in (Polk County) Tennessee most of his life. He was employed by the Tennessee Copper Company for 45 years. Surviving are four sons; Olen of Cleveland, Earl and Weldon of New York City, N.Y., and Lee Segraves of Baltimore, Md.; 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Lebanon Baptist Church with Rev. M.L. How and Rev. Leonard Higgins officiating. Interment will be in the church Cemetery with Murphy-Buckner directing. Friends of the family may call at the home at 223 Broad Street, SW until the service hour. During the 45 years working at the Tennessee Copper Mine as a Smelter Forman, J.W. Segraves owned several pieces of property in Fannin County, GA. The farm in Fry, GA on Burnt Church Road (now Mobil Road) also had a general store which was ran by Minnie Elliott Segraves. J.W. bought the first scales in the area and farmers brought their vegetables from all around to be weighed. The boys started at a early age hauling merchandise between Fry and Cleveland, TN. 1900 Polk County Census listed as William He signed papers as J.W. Seagraves, William Segraves, Bill Seagraves
