The Andy Warhol Museum, located at the corner of Sandusky and General Robinson streets on the North Shore, is the site of the former Frick & Lindsay building. The eight story building, built in 1911 to warehouse mining and steel building supplies, became a music store in the mid 1960s. Pittsburgh architectural writer Patricia Lowry described the structure as "built like a battleship but dressed like a bride." The terra cotta facade features a cream colored ornamental ring - egg and dart, griffins, lions and helmeted centurions. The $12.3 million project was completed in May of 1994.
