Note: H1
Note: The birth date from the church records is September 29, 1819 in Gefall. He was christened in the nearby parish of Premich. Baptismal sponsor was Kaspar Kirchner, a schoolboy from Gefall, the son of Kaspar Kirchner and Eva Katharina. The Catholic church books of the parish of Premich start in 1690 for Baptism, 1696 for marriages and 1695 for deaths. Since there are quite a number of Voll families in Gefall and Premich parish around 1700, we may suppose that the family lived there already much earlier than when the church books began. It was difficult to figure out which Caspar Voll family he came from as there were many Caspar Volls in the little town. They differentiated them by giving the families nick-names: his father was known as Caspar Voll Schubert-Alt. Caspar's plans for emigration were published in the so-called Intelligenzblatt Untermainkreis on February 23 1837. This was the official newspaper of the county. It announced to the public that four unmarried people from Gefall, in particular Andreas Kirchner, Johann Markert, Kaspar Voll and Elisabeth Hofgesang were going to emigrate to North America. Everyone who thought to have a claim against any of these four had a last chance to forward it on March 16 1837. I found their marriage record at St. Agatha. He was 27 from Wellesley and she was 18 from Wellesley. Kaspar and Maria Traub were godparents for Peter Brenner in 1845. Peter was the son of Johanes Brenner and Magdalena Meyer. Magdalena was the sister of Catherine Meyer, and the half sister of Maria Zichar. This was a year before he was married. He probably met Maria through the Brenners. And if he knew the Brenners, then he definitely knew Pierre Voisin and his wife, Catherine Meyer. According to the 1871 Census, he said he was born around 1820 and that he lived in Wellesley. He was RC and a farmer. (Division 4, Microfilm Roll C-9944, page 48) In the 1881 Census, he was listed as 61 from Germany. Mary was 53 and from France. John was 25, Joseph was 21 and George was 12. (District 162, Wellesley Twp. p. 52) In 1884, Caspar and son John owned 150 acres in Bamberg, con 3 lot 6, eastern section. Died of Apoplexy which he had had for 8 days. He was a farmer who was born in Bavaria and was 68 when he died. The informant was Rev. J. Gehl of St. Clements.
