Text:   'Last May while fitting up H.R.'s (Henry Robert's -- the first vicar)house at Slough my dear wife got her feet wet by being caught in ashower of rain, took cold, and was worse in health than usual......This going on, with sometimes a much greater loss of strength, tillAugust when she again went to Slough for a change of air and to visitH.R. and his wife in their new abode; but continuing to get worse wasglad to return home. Mr Blackstone, surgeon was called in and afterascertaining the seat of the pain said it was a serious case whichdemanded prompt attention, and that the present case was more seriousthan an attack she had had in the previous year and far more difficultto subdue as the symptoms were those of "internal cancer".... InAugust last while at Slough my dear Betty felt a strong convictionthat her work on earth was done..she said to H.R. that she wasentirely resigned and was resting upon and calmly awaiting the will ofher Lord.... About a week before her death we thought she did notdistinctly know each of us but she looked calmly at H.R. and said "Ipray that God bless you and give you the strength to do His work".Three days before her death she closed her eyes to open them no moreon earth and was we believe quite unconscious. We watched her veryclosely day and night, for the last seventy-two hours. Sunday the 11thit was clear she was gradually going and while we were all around herbed, myself close on one side and W.T. (William Thompson) and H.R.(Henry Robert) on the other and the servants at the foot, at a quarterpast six she calmly fell asleep in Jesus.... After death she was mostlovely, just like herself asleep. May it be the happy lot of all wholoved and esteemed her to met her in heaven is the earnest prayer of"G. Wehlpton"
