Note: HEGSTAD FUNERAL IS HELD FRIDAY Last Rites for Hope Township Pioneer at Vang Funeral services for Ole M. Hegstad, early resident of Hope Township were held Friday, July 23 at the Lutheran Church at Vang, with Rev. M. Eggen of Hampdem in charge of the services. Interment was in the Vang Cemetery. Mr. Hegstad died July 19, 1937, at the Langdon hospital. He had been suffering from cancer for four years, and had been in the hospital since last fall. Ole Martin Hegstad was born July 23, 1861 at Sjarto, Trondhjem, Norway, and came to America in 1886. After working for several years in Minnesota and Iowa, he came in 1903 to Hope Township, where he farmed until 1924. He was also a painter and decorator. June 8, 1905 he married Beret Bredeli at Milton, ND. She and their son Arthur survive him. Special numbers at the funeral were "Den store hvide flok v ser" sung by Mrs. George Carlson in Norwegian, "Wonderful Morning" by George Carlson and Arthur Halborn and several songs by the church choir. Pallbearers at the funeral were Raymond Ruth, Arthur and Emil Amundson, Willard and Lawrence Knutson and A. O. Braaten.
