Note: HOLD VANG RITES FRIDAY FOR MRS. HEGSTAD Long Time County Resident Dies January 27 at Grand Forks Hospital Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Aspelund Lutheran Free Church at Vang for Mrs. Anna Hegstad, long-time county resident, who died January 27, 1947, at a Grand Forks hospital. Rev. John Strand officiated at the services. Mrs. Kenneth Condon of Langdon and a mixed quartet of the Aspelund Church furnished music for the services. Pallbearers were Arthur Amundson, Alvin Soli, Allen and Fred Ludwig, Thorsten Soli and Odney Romfo. Mrs. Anna Hegstad was born in Romsdalen, Norway, July 19, 1872. She came to the United States in 1898 and worked in a tailoring shop at Jackson, MN, for several years. She became the bride of Ole Hegstad at Milton June 8, 1904, and the couple made their home on a farm north of Vang for the rest of their lives. A son Arthur, who survives on the family farm, survives. A daughter, Agnes, was born May 11, 1905, and died the same day. Mr. Hegstad died July 19, 1937. Mrs. Hegstad had been in poor health for several years and became quite ill last spring. She had been in bed most of the time since. For two months she was cared for by Mrs. Paul Ludwig of Langdon until taken to the Grand Forks hospital January 18. The Hegstads were affiliated with the Aspelund Lutheran Church. Mrs. Hegstad was active in church work and the ladies aid.
