Note:   Addressing the high number of "Williams"
Hi Larry, the baptisms are all from Brixham and same parents on the LDS
 records...it is a puzzle..
The LDS don't bother much with searching for death records as they want to
find records of relatives who were definitely living as per birth and
baptism records....so they can do proxy baptisms for them in their current
church centred in Utah...the Church of the Latter Day Saints.
If they can prove a person is a family member by the records then they can
apply for this type of baptism now...that is why I think Ancestry was formed
by the LDS...thank goodness they did!
As for all the Williams...my cousin and I have puzzled over it for many
years...either a number of their young Williams died young and were replaced
by another, both parents may have wanted to name a son after a William in
their family, and although the son was baptised William he was thereafter
known by another name.....strange things happen between the baptism and the
 family name use....
We have a friend who is ka Barry but his recorded birth name is John....he
never uses John and when he recently went to hospital for an op the Spec
told him after that they had to totally change their computer data system to
 accommodate people like him.
The other possibilities are that they had more than one baptism for some
children, possibly due to not remembering or a change of practice in the
church....or that there are another set of parents in Brixham at the same
 time with the same names.
For the time being I have left them all on my tree.
 Clear as mud??
 Jenni
